Football Reminders for 2014-15 school year
Class of 2015, 2016, and 2017: Athletes who are interested in playing football in 2014 should register for football weight training class in the fall of the 2014 school year. This class is a supervised class designed to maintain and enhance strength and power during the long season. This class will be beneficial for the student-athlete during the season. (see Coach Habich to approve registration for football weight training class)
Class of 2016,2017, & 2018: Football players, multi sport athletes, and athletes are encouraged to sign up fro a weight training class spring semester. Weight training classes will encompass all aspects of speed, agility, conditioning, strength, and flexibility which are essential for all sports and injury prevention. The class will use a periodization weight training format that will be centered on functional, free weight exercises and Olympic-style weight lifting.
Off-season Workouts Week #5
Athletic Weight Training Week 5 starts Monday 2/24. Workouts are before school, during weight training class, and after school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Workouts are for all Watauga athletes looking to increase their athletic performance. Multi sport athletes are strongly encourage to attend morning lifting sessions. This will allow time to rest and recover and be full speed to participate in other sports after school. Don't make Excuses, Do it the Watauga Way! Athletes who do not train properly in the weight room will not reach their full athletic potential, will not develop the strength and power needed for sports, and will be more prone to injuries while playing sports.
Football Workouts 2 hour delay/No School Plan
If we have a two hour delay on a workout day (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), workouts will start at 9:15 am instead of 7:15 am. If school is canceled due to weather, weight workouts will be canceled. If school gets out early because of weather, after school weight workouts will be canceled. Go Pioneers!
